Government works on support measures for bread, milk producers

MOSCOW, Feb 3 (PRIME) -- The Russian government will allocate an additional 12.5 billion rubles to support of bread and milk producers, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement on Thursday quoting Minister Dmitry Patrushev.

“The Agriculture Ministry is working on an additional possibility of direct support of bakeries, and plans to allocate 2.5 billion rubles in the form of subsidies to production of bread,” he said.

“The dairy industry demands special attention, and prices there have remained stable for the past two years while the cost of production rose significantly. In these difficult conditions, we are considering support for our cattle breeders and provision of at least 10 billion additional rubles to buy feed using the experience of the previous year.”

The government is taking necessary measures to cap price growth for staple food, to maintain its sufficient amount, to protect the internal market, and support the producers. The ministry and the regional authorities track affordability of bread and bakery goods, Patrushev said.
